Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA)
Help for current DACA recipients
- This is a rapidly changing program. Please check with US. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) for the most current information.
- DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) program was created in 2012 to give some young people who came to the U.S. as children temporary protection from deportation and access to a work permit.
- On September 13, 2023, a federal judge ruled that DACA is unlawful, but did not end the program. The decision is expected to be appealed and will likely may reach the U.S. Supreme Court. The current federal administration may also take steps to eliminate DACA.
- This decision means there are no changes for existing DACA recipients at this time. Current DACA recipients will keep their protections and work permits, and DACA renewals will continue. Anyone who currently has DACA or who has had DACA in the past year is still eligible to renew. However, no first-time applications are being granted at this time.
If you want to renew DACA, contact one of the organizations below to request an appointment.
