Bay Area Equal Pay Collaborative (BA=$C)
The mission of BA=$C is to address the intersection of race and gender with inequities in the workplace through strategic partnerships and education. The BA=$C was formed in 2012 by federal and local government agencies and community and civil rights advocates to educate employers on their obligations and employees on their rights. The model collaborative received the Gender Justice Award from the Equal Rights Advocates in 2013 for their efforts to address the wage gap. The group engages in joint outreach and education campaigns to address inequities in the workplace.
Over the years the BA=$C has been hosting educational events to share our research and strategies to close the gender pay gap, and we’ve seen a huge shift in the culture about discussing compensation issues. Many employers now recognize that embracing a compensation philosophy that values equity is more than a compliance issue – it can also be a strategic advantage in attracting and retaining top talent, as well as part of an overall corporate brand that appeals to consumers.
